Northern Ireland Independent Care Award finalist Pat Cameron SE4104
A BALLYCLARE nurse has good reasons to celebrate after reaching the finals of the NI Independent Care Awards. Pat Cameron, who is a finalist in the Support Staff category, is employed by Manor Healthcare and works in Queenscourt Nursing Home in Ballyclare. Pat has been a support staff member for 3
years.
Residents and staff in the County Antrim home are eagerly awaiting the outcome and are hoping Pat is the winner. The announcement will take place later this month at the glittering gala evening on 16th October at the Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick.
This is the first event of its kind in the Province to acknowledge the remarkable contribution made by staff working in the Independent Health and Social Care sector. The awards honour the efforts made by these ordinary people who make an extraordinary contribution to society by looking after Northern Ireland's most elderly and vulnerable people in care homes and in the community, up and down the country.
There are six award categories for community care staff including those working in nursing and residential homes and those providing care for people in their own homes.
Nominations for the awards were received from residents, clients, relatives, owners, managers, other staff and members of the public. All nominations were scrutinised by a panel of judges.
Declared Rosemary Armstrong, Chair of Independent Health and Care Providers, said: "We have been inundated with over 200 nominations.
“It was a tough task for all the judges in selecting the finalists and choosing a winner. The quality of the nominations received highlighted the high standards of carers in the sector. Everyone is looking forward to a great night of celebration."
