New cyclists can now ‘look before they leap’ thanks to KMCC
Wednesday, 13 January 2010
KINGS Moss Cycling Club have launched a new online message board which allows those interested in joining to view the route and distance of a Sunday morning run before coming along.
While new members of all abilities are always welcome and will be supported during Sunday morning rides, some will prefer to check online at www.kingsmosscyclingclub.co.uk before doing so.
The route followed for each Sunday morning runs, which meet at 10am in Ballyclare Town Square, will depend on wind conditions. The weekly rides are designed to provide a 'no man left behind' approach, giving newcomers an opportunity to take part with the help and advice of the more experienced cyclists.
Of course, anyone who would like to know more about the club can stop off at the Square before the run begins. A club member will be more than pleased to answer any questions.
This Sunday's club ride, on 10 January, suffered from a very low turnout due to the continuing freezing weather.
Also, a club run on Saturday 9 January was cancelled due to road conditions; which meant that - yet again - the sound of turbo-trainers, rolling roads and exercise bikes was no doubt heard from garages and spare rooms across Ballyclare and East Antrim.
The same day, Saturday past, was the planned date for some of the Kings Moss cyclists to take part in a Juiced Orchard 'Cody's Challenge' event in Armagh. The event, which is being held aid of the Clarke Clinic of the Royal Belfast Hospital and the charity Heart Beat, was postponed and will be held on Saturday 23 January.
KMCC have a wide range of events in store for 2010, including a 'Tour of the villages' new member promotion, a training holiday in Majorca, a major May Fair event in aid of the Northern Ireland Children's Cancer Fund and many more. Members will also be supporting friends from Kilbride CC at an event to be held by the Ballyclare men later this year.
Wednesday evening and Saturday morning rides are also held by Kings Moss. See the club website - www.kingsmosscyclingclub.co.uk - or speak to a member for details.
Kings Moss Cycling Club are sponsored by Greenacres Golf Centre. The club is affiliated to the Cyclists Touring Club.
