THE various draws have been made for the Ulster Branch (GUI) competitions in 2012 and the three Golf Clubs in the Sixmilewater Valley can look ahead to the new season with hopes of success and progress.
For Ballyclare Golf Club the draws are as follows: Barton Shield v Galgorm @ Hilton club on 17th June, Belfast and District Cup v Kirkistown Castle by 7th May, Senior Cup Qualifying @ Moyola on 20th May, Junior Cup Qualifying @ Carrick on 27th May, Jimmy Bruen Shield Qualifying at Galgorm on 6th May, Ulster Cup v Belvoir Park by 2nd May, Pierce Purcell Qualifier @ Ballyclare on 13th May, Ulster Fourball v Dunmurry by 28th May, Irish Mixed Qualifier @ Massereene on 10th June, Fred Daly (Boys) v Malone by 7th May.
The Ballyclare club will hope to do better in 2012 than last year when they reached one Ulster final losing out to Letterkenny.
The Hilton Hotel (Templepatrick) club can look forward to the following draws: Fred Daly (Boys) v Blackwood by 7th May (2nd Round), Junior Cup Qualifier @ Fortwilliam on 27th May, Irish Mixed Qualifier @ Massereene on 10th June, Jimmy Bruen Shield Qualifier @ Galgorm on 6th May; Pierce Purcell Qualifier @ Whitehead on 13th May; Ulster Cup v Ballybofey by 2nd May; Ulster Fourball v Foyle by 30th April .
At the Greenacres golf Club just outside Ballyclare the various cup competition draws are: Holt Shield v Carrick, Carnalea and Malone all home and away, Belfast and District Cup (2nd Round) v Ballymena or Rockmount by 11th June, Fred Daly (Boys) v Lurgan by 7th May, Junior Cup Qualifier @Carrick on 27th May, Irish Mixed Qualifier @Massereene on 10th June, Jimmy Bruen Qualifier @Galgorm on 6th May, Pierce Purcell Qualifier @Whitehead on 13th May; Ulster Cup v Whitehead by 30th May, Ulster Fourball v Ballycastle by 30th April.
The dates will be given later for the Holt Shield competition which is initially played on a league basis prior to match play.
