EIGHT Members of East Antrim Harriers travelled to Armagh on Sunday 12th October 2008 to compete in a 10 mile road race.
With warm and dry weather conditions all eight participants managed to get round the hilly course.
First Harrier to finish was Sam Crawford who finished in 12th overall with an excellent time of 56.42 and second in the male veterans over 40 category, Stephen Gowdy was the next Harrier home in a time of 70.51. East Antrim ladies were well represented with Carol Annesley first home in a time of 77.07, followed by Christine Shield, Shirley Gowdy, Jeanette Burton who was first in her Category, Fran Wright & Marian Hayes.
This was the fourth and final race in a 10 Mile Grand Prix Series being promoted by Athletics N.I. the previous races being held in Limavady, Portaferry & Ballyclare. A special mention goes to three members of East Antrim Sam Crawford, Marian Hayes and Jeanette Burton in winning their respective categories in the Grand Prix Series. Also on Sunday 12th October, Sylvia Clark of East Antrim Harriers travelled over to Essex to take part in the Tiptree 10 Mile Road Race, finishing in an impressive time of 79 minutes.
